Can someone advise me as to the correct finish for the three speedometer cable clips that mount to the firewall and transmission tunnel for the 4 speed cars. I have been told they were natural, silver cad, and black. I want to have them correct so I am hoping someone has the answer. I have been researching this site a lot and have learned a great deal. I appreciate all the information you guys have to offer. Thanks in advance. Scoop

I'd think they would have to have been on the body when it was painted. mine were black.

The assembly manual ('67 - UPC M20 A6) shows them as being installed during build time and also using a small dab of sealer.
Mine are silver though I'm not sure if it's cad or zinc.

They were installed by Chevrolet on the Trim Line, many hours after the body was painted at Fisher Body; most I've seen were zinc-plated, although some had a black plating.

Here's one from a 1100 mile 10D Norwood car, looks like clear cad/zinc to me.

Most of mine (3D LOS car) were covered with undercoating but looked similar to the one above when clean.
I chose "dull silver cad" for replating.

That is what mine look like though I don't remember it so close to the grommet. If zinc plating goes flat over the years then that is likely what was used.
