Title: 69 Rally Wheel Center Caps
Post by: adams69camaro on February 21, 2012, 12:41:29 AM
For a 69 SS or Z-28 with the 15X7 Rally Wheels for 4-wheel disc brakes, should the wheels have the flat "disc brake" center cap or the standard "derby caps"?

Derby caps. "Disk Brake" caps were only used in 67.

Thanks Ed, that is what I thought just wanted to make sure.  Appreciate it.

Speaking of these caps...  A friend who owns a '67 Corvette told me the Corvette 'disk brake' center caps would not work on any other Ralley wheels.   I've also had people tell me that the derby caps were different over the period of time Chevy used them.   I've always thought that 'derby caps were 'derby caps'.. and 'disk brake caps' were 'disk brake caps' (ie. 67)...   Can someone clarify this point for me?

The '67 Corvette "disc brakes" center caps work fine on any other rally wheel; the rally wheels are all configured the same in that area.

thanks John,  that's what I've always thought...  I'll have to ask him why he thought they were different....  maybe he tried it with a damaged cap or wheel...?
