Saw this on ebay (of course) nice car but? didn't the D80 option not become standard and appear on the trim tag until 04/69?
just a thought....

Michael - Are you sure about that link? I tried copying it onto goggle and some other weird sites came up. I also tried a search on eBay and nada...
Is this the same car? http://www.hendrickperformance.com/detail-1969-chevrolet-camaro-z_slash_28-used-6761345.html

Marty it's a problem with the post itself. If you look it has a double"h" at the beginning of http. Drop one "h" and it works.

It's got a fake tag. Lots of stamps look to be "modified", angled headrests on an 01C car, Guage cluster with no clock, all kinds of little nits. Kind of throws the whole car into question, doesn't it? 123479N587627 for the record.

Sorry, I just have to nitpick, but why can't they get the Z/28 emblem in the grill placed correctly?
Bob
-
How about the transmission crossmember being in backwards, the shifter mounting bolts from the muncie shifters, are on the passenger side of the car, and the other two holes in the bottom are towards the front of the car.

Is that a mono leaf 12 bolt? Or at least the shock plates?
John

John
Yup, mono shock plates and repro leaf springs.

Definite fake tag and suspicious looking stampings.

It would appear he bought the car from BJ back in 2010. Yet another example of, if you don't do your homework prior to buying a car you can get burned.

Mark's 2nd link say's it all!
Which is scarier...Hendrick's getting screwed, or Hendrick's trying to dump it off on someone else?
-
I knew there were issues with this car, I could smell it through the computer screen. That's to bad..................Sorry guys that I got the link paste wrong but at least you could figure out the ebay number.
What do you do with a car like this,? except not buy it. If you check out the carb pic the carb is not dated!
Just another small but overlooked detail!

Neither one. I know from his restoration people that Rick knows what's what.
-
Hmmm...did you read Kurt's posts on this link? I think we're talking about the same car. If not...my bad.

I do not wish to stir the pot but Henridkcs crew missed it on this one! Any one that can read a book about trim tags on 1969 Z/28 Camaros knows this tag is wrong and never existed...... to my knowledge!
How's that for CYA and double speak, just like a politician!
LM69Z28 ;)

I'd be willing to bet Hendrick don't know this guy is using his name to sell this car. I've met the man and toured his NASCAR shop. This is not his style.
-
I would like to believe this car is being sold w/o his knowledge although highly unlikely. And, can you explain why the link to Hendrick Performance is the same on both the eBay ad and Hendrick's home page (look at the seller on the eBay ad)?
Obviously I've ruffled a few feathers. Not my intention at all. In fact, I'll keep my thoughts to myself. ;) Only this one time! ;D
-
They will get over it Marty, I wouldn't worry about it!
Happy Everything

Ok I am wrong.
-
so is the seller the same guy who was selling it in 09? or did he sue rick hendrick who he bought the car from? who is selling the car now?
-
Daniel,
Have you also been though Rick's private collection???
Going to send you a PM.

I did an on-site inspection certification on this car 6-18-09, my certification # is 0597. The whole car was a fake. POS, POS...........
The owner at that time bought it from a dealer in FL who was marketing it on consignment. It actually came out of the T. Abrams collection (Reliable Carriers) according to the data and research I came up with. I suspect that Abrams found out the car was bad and unloaded it. I think the owner in NJ was able to get his money back on the sale. Not sure as I can't remember. Too many fraud cases that I've dealt with over the past three to four years.
PART OF MY FINAL SUMMARY: I CAN'T POST THE WHOLE REPORT THOUGH.
Number’s matching drive train: The complete drive train (engine, transmission and rear axle) has been altered and restamped with new numbers. The trim identification tag on the firewall is a fake reproduction making it nearly impossible to evaluate what model Camaro this vehicle was when it left the assembly plant in January, 1969. The drive train stampings were verified as restamps through use of my Camaro Hi-Performance data base which has thousands of original drive train stampings. None of the drive train stampings on this vehicle match any of the original stampings in my CHP data base. It should also be noted on page two of this report that many reproduction parts were used to restore this Camaro.
There, now you have the rest of the story.

Nope, not mine!
But Michael is calling this one right. And now, Jerry has explained a lot of it. Somebody in the sales side of the Perfomance group missed this big time, and according to what Jerry said, not for the first time on this car. Yes, somebody messed up --again. But the Performance crowd is only one part of Hendrick's Motorsports... which is only part of all that Rick Hendrick oversees every day. Like Daniel I have met the man, he is a straight arrow. I have also met his restoration guys for his provate collection and have seen their work up close and personal. Have know one of them personally for years. Again, good people! If you ever get the chance to see his private collection, go see it.

I am a man of my word so I'll leave it at that.
I have only one thing to say; Jerry..............where the hell have you been?!? Great to have you back buddy!!!!!

Nope didn't get that far. Just the NASCAR shop where they were working on Gordan's cars.

Yes, that's correct - 2010 NCRS National Convention - we were the first outsiders to see the collection.
