I was just wondering what you guys thought of this DZ block that's up for sale on E-Bay.

The heads were cast on the 3rd and the engine assembled on the 4th. I don't know about that.

I tend to think that's a real pad stamp.

It didn't have those heads when it was built originally.

If the pad stamp is real, where is the VIN, seller claims he can't find it elswhere.

I have a DZ block from the same time period (Dec 17, 1968). The vin derivitive is down by the starter, but not legible. Even with a lupe, I can only make out an "N", and possible the very bottom of a "1" or a "7" along the way. One of the guys stamping these during that time period just didn't hit it very hard. My guess is that there would be SOME evidence of the derivitive down by the starter. The guy I bought my block from had said the same thing as this guy, that there is no other stamp. On mine, part of it is there, just very faint.

The VIN was moved during this time frame.

My engine is stamped V1203DZ. One day before his. I have the VIN. Stamped right next to it. Mine is a Van Nuys car. Maybe this one is a Nor. car
