Title: Center Grill Color for 68 Standard grille?

Looking at the repo and NOS grille out there... they are all molded out of gray plastic...   I want mine to be as close to origional as possible... what was the finish on the grilles when they rolled off the line? Were they molded and put on the cars or were they painted? if so whts the procedure? Thanks In Advance.... Also Are there any major differences in the NOS ones and Repops... as far as fit and apperance?

The center bars are Argent Silver. The surrounding area is satin black. There is some debate as to whether the turn signal protrutions should be silver or black - there may have been a change made during the year.
