I am thinking about buying this carb. The numbers are not stamped straight. I need another opinion. Has it been restamped? Should I buy it?

I'm no expert, but was surprised to see a mechanical fuel bowl vent on a carb for a '69. I thought these were discontinued in '68. I have some older Q-Jets, and the numbers were not always aligned, but I'm sure someone else with more expertise will chime in soon - hopefully before you spend all that $$$$.

Thanks. I have other 69 carbs and the fuel bowl vent looks the same to me.

Well, I haven't shopped for too many Qjets for years. Picked up one last year completely restored for a friend's 67 350 and it was under $200.
You didn't ask about price (but you did say "should I buy it?), but I have to tell you, I was shocked when I saw what they were asking for that one. If you have a good one that is restorable, check with Eric at www.vintagemusclecarparts.com restore it. OK, OK, I realize if you are looking for a numbers carb you probably don't have one to restore. I would still look around. They are out there.
Found this one by searching for 7029204: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230671132285&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
It is only dated four days later. I realize that reserve has not been met, so can't say for sure what . Maybe these really do bring that kind of money.

The one one I linked to on ebay did not sell. I would call the seller and see what he wants for it. Nothing to lose.

Thanks for all the leads on carbs. I found another one as well which I am trying to negotiate a price.

I purchased this one today.

Since it was not restored I thought it was a better chance it was not restamped. I also understand the quadrajets without date codes on the body near the part number tend to be earlier dates. More than want I wanted to pay, but I have been looking a long time and have not found any better price.
