Title: 1967 Tires: Diamondback vs Kelsey
Post by: 1967RS/SS on September 05, 2011, 10:31:00 PM
Just tried to search for info for my 67 but found mostly 69's and some 68's.  Sorry if I missed it...

I am going to be needing new tires for my 67 RS/SS soon (14x6 FC wheels with mag hubcaps).  Safety is the biggest concern since I drive it frequently and will be going with radials no bias.

As I understand it, diamondback makes Firestone reproduction tires and Kelsey makes Goodyear repros.  Is one more correct over the other for a 1967 RS/SS with an 01C build date?  Is one brand preferred more than the other in terms of safety and quality?

What was more common for an early 67, the redline or white striped tire?  Goodyear or Firestone?  I searched their sites but did not find a D70 tire???

P.S. I know Coker is also an option but did not find much positive about them (quality and customer service) in my research so they are all but out.

Kelsey only makes bias-ply reproduction tires (no radials). Diamond Back only uses brand-new radials from a number of manufacturers and adds whatever sidewall treatment you want.
