Title: Motor and Transmission For Sale On E-bay
Post by: TooManyReels on August 14, 2011, 07:09:09 PM
There is a Z28 motor and transmission for sale on e-bay. The motor is about and hour away from me if anyone needs any help on the motor. The pad numbers and the partial vin numbers on the transmission do not seem to match up..Can anyone tell shed some light on these numbers...
Block Pad # is V0324DZ (March 3, 69) and the transmission is #N127397. This looks like and earlier production date for the transmission...Any thoughts..

I'm not even close to knowing about engine stamps but I  think it's a restamp on the block.

Here is a response by the seller after I requested a clearer pic of the pad;

I will edit the post later bc i have had a cpl questions abt the stamp but i had this block acid tested by a police officer friend when i bought it bc of all the fakes out there so i assure you it is an original!

Thanks  Marty,

I hope this e-mail finds you doing well..I have been in communication with him myself...He seems to know just enough about the motor and transmission to be putting the right spin on it...He just sent me a response that the motor and transmission are not matching...So I'm inclined to believe it could be a restamp since he is not even trying to send me the partial vin. number off the block...

Doing well Eddie, thanks! I checked the block off the number he posted on his description (3956618) and it checks out here...of course, nothing beats seeing the real thing.

He knows all right parts #'s for crank, heads, intake, even thermo housing, etc.,  but just a little fuzzy on the motor trans. #'s and stampings. Right!

That sound right....If I was really interested I might drive to SP NC and take a look for myself...If the partial vin. number on the block was even close to a block I'm looking for I'd go and check it out...

The assembly stamp spacing looks a little abnormal plus it's not in focus and a little too much time elapsed from casting to assembly for my comfort. I don't get warm and fuzzies when I see it and I know a couple of cars in which a DZ so dated would be right at home...
