Title: Hurst Handle Shifter Bracket
Post by: mikecio1 on July 21, 2011, 02:45:16 PM
I am looking to find this bracket. It offsets the shifter over 1 3/4" than up 3 1/4 so that it is in the factory location.
I found it at Heartbeat City for 169!. That almost stopped my Heartbeat!

Any help would be great
Thanks
Mike

I've never seen one solo before either - you can also try Pete Serio at Precision Pontiac ( http://www.precisionpontiac.net/ (http://www.precisionpontiac.net/) ) - He "wrote the book" on Hurst shifters ;D

I sent Pete my question and the information I have. He wanted me to get "forum" opinion... will a 69 factory Hurst Shifter work in a 67 with no console?
FYI my transmission is a 69 Muncie

the 69 stick is a different shape then the 67-68 stick
The aftermarket Hurst shifter for the 67-69 Camaro has the same offset except uses a bolt on chrome stick.

You can use a Hurst aftermarket shifter with or without the console and use the Hurst stick or use an original 67-68 Muncie stick made to fit the Hurst shifter

yes the Hurst 391-4340 is the 67-69 shifter with no stick or ball but you can buy the 67-68 Camaro 391-4339 shifter with stick and ball for $235

The 1969 Hurst shifter with stick and ball is 391-7438

The chrome stick and ball is about $100  so the 4339 at $235 is better deal then the 4340 at $205

I'm not sure what you are trying to put together ? Do you want to use an original 67-68 Muncie stick with Hurst shifter?

The first thing you should do is check out what Hurst parts you have.

You need to have the correct shifter, chrome stick, and mount plate to fit into the console.
Also need to have correct rods and levers for it all to fit correctly

The 67-68 chrome stick is 538-4106
The 67-68 mount plate is 117-5284

It is a non-console car.

I have been working with Bruce at Manchester Muncies. I have found him very helpful and knowledgeable. We have found a shifter that we believe will work for my application and it is in the process of being sent now. He stated he will stand behind everthing and if the shifter does not work he guarantees it and he will work with me on finding one that does.
I will let you all know how it turns out.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS!
