124379L502363 isn't in the database, but as you probably know, without pictures of the trim tag, pop and engine pad, it's impossible to verify the car. Post them when you can and we'll be able to tell you more.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the site Donald!

ALL WAS CORRECT. THE REAR END IS CODE 373 POSI,  0922 IS SEPT 22 OF
1968, E STANDS FOR
EATON POSI. B IS FOR BUFFALO NY.
T1002JH, THIS MEANS OCT. 2, 1968 STAMPED.
THE BLOCK ITSELF IS SEPT 7, 1968. CASTING NUMBER IS 272 ON BLOCK.

i am no expert, but i dont like the trans stamp. it was supposed to be in a gang holder, and the L is missing. also too much spacing between the numbers. the engine pad needs to be cleaned up better to see broach marks. if you are serious about the car get in touch with jerry macneish and have him verify the stampings. you will be saving yourself money in the long run.

the more i look at the other pics of this car the more i dont like it. one of the vin rivets is missing. according to the trim tag, it is a 711 black standard interior. the car cas a black deluxe interior.

Donald,

I'm no expert, but in my opinion, the partial VIN on the engine pad and transmission case have been restamped.  In fact, they left the "L" out of the partial VIN on the transmission!   :P

If you are truly interested in this car, you should hire Jerry MacNeish to inspect it before you buy.

Also CRG, how unusual is it for a LOS Camaro to be originally sold in Maryland?

I'd have to agree with Paul. Is this the same car that closed the bid at 70k +? If it is...here is another one within that price range with 6 days still remaining;

IMO, I don't like any of the #'s on the car. Tag doesn't quite line up with the VIN, dealer location is not possible so the POP is a fake, trans is a clear restamp, etc.

I would like to thank everyone for there for all the great input. I could have made a costly mistake. Thanks Donald

I concur, the engine date code stamp and trans stamps are NOT originals, IMHO.

dealer location is not possible so the POP is a fake

Paul...I think this is what Kurt was referring to with his quote.

Pretty car but not original stampings on the numbers on any of the drivetrain pieces. It has had a few things added for certain. WAY over marketed and that auction price was WAY over real market price for that car as it sits.

Yes, since LA shut down 4 months before Norwood, Norwood was the only plant, so they shipped coast to coast.

Sarcasm doesnt translate well...
my car is a norwood and was sold in LA. (torrance, Ca)
As far as i have seen, Van Nuys plant was still producing cars in late May/ early June
Was there something special that norwood had that van nuys did not? (for a 69 350 ss)

I'm not sure what you mean by that. You asked a question and I answered it. I wasn't being sarcastic.

Paul had asked about a LOS car on the east coast , and I sarcastically asked about a NOR car on the west coast.

Thanks Marty, I saw that but I don't understand what "dealer location is not possible" refers to.  No such dealer, unlikely a LOS built Camaro would be sold in Maryland, or ??  Kurt, would you please elaborate?  Thanks in advance!

No way would an LA Camaro be sold new in MD.

Van Nuy was just building out existing orders. I'd expect NOR cars in CA by (or before) June.

Paul...if you look at the hand writting at the bottom of the POP you'll see what appears to be blue ink hot off the press. There is no way a 40+ year old doc's ink would look that fresh. At least that's what my CSI buds tell me...  ;)
