Title: 69 rear antenna with spoiler question
Post by: rooter11 on May 23, 2011, 03:37:21 PM
I have seen a post that states that a spoiler will hit a rear mounted antenna. My question is will the spoiler hit the antenna if the antenna is in the down position ( original antenna )?

Yes. If you use the '68 or early '69 spoiler (not as wide) it will make contact about a half inch in from the end. If you have a little antenna play, it can be pushed to the side enough to fully open the trunk.

I have a rear retractable antenna and in the down position it does not hit the spoiler  Joe

Is your antenna an original stock part, Joe?

If we’re talking stock rear fender placement on a ’69 Camaro - mine measures 14 inches from center of antenna hole to back edge of fender - and a stock rear antenna - at just under 20 inches tall when fully retracted, (available for AM radio only) it will be too tall, even in the down position, to miss either spoiler available that year. A front antenna was required with a spoiler equipped car for ’68 & ’69.
