according to "chevrolet by the numbers" book,the 2 barrel intake manifold casting #3927183 was used in 1969 and 1970 model year in 307 and 327 engine.
Now, my car is a late 1968 (07c)with 327,the casting on the intake manifold is 3927183 and the date code is G98.for july 9th 19_8.well I'm thinking 1968.Has this been seen before?and is this conclusive enough for to think this is the original intake for my car?
according to the book it should had been a 3919801 or 3960363 intake.see what you guys think...

On my 07D build L30/M20 I have intake #3927184 with a casting date of F 22 8. This intake is listed as a "69" 350 c.i. part, but I was told Chevrolet may have started putting them on late built "68's". Hope this helps, RonM.

same type of situation.I always thought my intake was not from my car until I looked at the date on it.

Another clue is, if the intake is original it should have an oil fill tube. RonM

I've seen several late 68's with those 2 69 intakes.

When I put the "correct" 327 engine in my '69 RS in 2005, the engine that I installed originally was in a '69 3 speed, base coupe, 327 / 210 Hp; VIN #124379N551248. This car was being parted out and scrapped.
That engine build info is as follows: CASTING NUMBER: 3932386
CASTING DATE: J 31 8 (OCTOBER 31, 1968)
ENGINE CODE: V1122FJ
V = FLINT ENGINE PLANT
1122 = ASSEMBLY DATE, 11/22/68
FJ = CAMARO, 327 CID, 3 SPD MANUAL
The intake manifold on the engine is: Part number: 3927183; Date Code K 8 8 (November 8, 1968)
