Title: Black 69 SS stripes
Post by: x66 714 on May 03, 2011, 09:31:27 PM
I tried to research this but didn't find anything. Were black SS striping on a 69 gloss or more like the tail panel of an SS396?
Thanks, Joe

The D90 stripe standard on Camaro SS was full gloss. Only the portion on the fender was paint; the door striping was a vinyl decal.

The SS 396 rear body panel finish has been debated on all the sites. Both full and semi-gloss survivors exist.

I would not doubt that a few were sprayed with the wrong paint... there were multiple blacks (blackout, lower dash semi-gloss, upperdash ZERO deg +TUXEDO) in the touch up booth and 2 reds as well. The red D90 stripe on a 69 Camaro is the Corvette Red from 1969 not Garnet.

As an aside... the White stripe on the Front end (Chevrolet Assembled parts) of the Black 04C survivor does not look to be the same as the white stripe on the Fisher built body, the front end is Brighter white.
