Title: Help with chrome tail pipes
Post by: 9T4Z on March 20, 2011, 12:05:19 AM
Hey guys... cleaning out the garage as I am moving soon... cataloging a bunch of parts as I put them in bins etc.

I bought these a number of years back and was told they were for a 69. Then I realized 69 only had a partial chrome tip so figured, I'd purchased some scrap metal....

Anyway I don't have access to too many parts books and wondering if anyone had see anything like these???  Any guesses will be fine.  part # 8201337 see link

Definitely not for 70-73, so thinking these Walker pipes might be period pieces for 67/8 maybe?  #34235 34236 .  Did any 67/8 have all chrome pipes or were they just chromed at the tips, like 69/70?

Those might be AP Exhaust. I've seen the number system before. I don't think they're Maremont...Joe

In 1971 I bought tailpipes for my 1969 SS that looked like the ones you have. They were chrome from the muffler back and were cut off straight, not angled. They were bought at a parts store and I'm pretty sure they were Walker. Don't have the pipes but still have the car. Jim

I will offer the following guess:
C&C Automotive

I purchased a set of tips that look similar in May 29th, 1986.

The C&C Ad in Camaro Corral May 85 Page # 29 has an ad for these tips (Mine) and they WERE the best repop at the Time.

What a great time buying parts NO INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hemmings and Swap meets & networking the old fashion way was best,,,Friging E-pay,,,

Rant stopped,
Nice Tips

Jim

I sent the part number to Walker earlier in the week and their reply said the part numbers on the pipes do not match anything in their inventory records.....

Thanks Eddie... I did the same.  They only have data to 1972 , they referred me to Parks Auto Parts which they advised me buys up obsolete Walker parts, and may have older books.  We'll see.

They only polished the ends. Then plated the whole pipie since you ca't dip only what you want. Probably cheaper to manufacture than welding a tipn
