Title: Numbers Don't Add Up
Post by: HOT3O2 on February 26, 2011, 06:05:40 PM
There's a car being listed on E-bay that was built in LA and has a 12B build date on the trim tag. My car is a LA built 12B car too. The VIN numbers on this car and my car are 224 apart but the trim tag numbers are over 11,000 apart. Is this possible? It's got me scratching my head right now. I look forward to the experts chiming in.

I don't know about the car I'm just wondering if it's normal having such a wide discrepancy in the numbers compared to mine.

69 Body numbers equal the order number assigned when theorer was accepted and the car assigned to a factory.  They were not necessarily built in the same order as the orders were received, especially Z28s in the november/December of 68 time frame.  There was some kind of material shortage that delayed production of alot of cars in that time frame, possibly intake manifolds or rear axles.
