Does anyone recognize this car? If so, can you tell us about it? Its scheduled to be in Albuquerque for the MuscleCar Nationals in March.
The car is owned by Ed Montiniaz
-
Go over to Yenko.net. Ed is a member there and posts regularly.
-
You need to delete the AZ from the end of his name..he lives in AZ
-
You mean his last name is Montini...I understood he lives in California.
-
Saw this car at the forge show a couple of years back. Very nice car.

You are correct. Ed Montini is from Arizona. However, I believe your Ed Montini works for the Arizona Republic and is not the owner of this Yenko.

Thank you. It looks like me and someone else stands corrected. :-[

I wonder why they changed the hood from the SS ? Was the SS hood not correct and they changed after they found the right one or was this just an after thought?
-
I'm no authority on Yenko's but from everything I've read, this is the correct hood.
-
Is this car the same one that is in the article on the Yenko site? If it is it was never converted so it should not have a Yenko hood would it? All the pics in the restoration thread and magazine article shows it with the SS hood. Now I'm confused AGAIN.
-
I think Ed put the hood on because it looks really cool. I would have done it also.
-
Hello guys - Ed Montini here..yes that's my car and the other Ed Montini here in AZ is my cousin, he writes for the Arizona Republic. The car is 1 of the 6 non coverted Yenko Camaro's ....it has all the 9737 Yenko Parts ordered by Don Yenko but was never fully converted to the 427 car.
I put the hood on the car this past fall for the MCACN show, because i really like the hood and it really enhances the car. The SS hood is hanging in my garage ready to go back on when I desire or when i ever sell the car.
Let me know what else you would like to know about the car - all owners of the car as still alive and one owner who did extensive racing with the car is in contact with me regularity...he provide many racing pics, time slips and great stories about the car. All owners are from Pittsburg area (including myself) .
Stunning car in person -
Thanks for the compliment Charley!

Thanks for your explanation Ed. I am in no way taking anything away from the car. I have a character defect of being a perfectionist. This causes me to get a lot of egg on my face. The detail work is so meticulous the hood just caught my attention. BTW the hood is cool.
-
Ed,
Will you be in Albuquerque along with your car at the end of March? If so, I look forward to meeting you. Incredible car!

Yes, I am arranging 6 cars to be transported to the show from guys here in Phoenix. I will be bringing 2 of my own cars, the RG car above and a freshly restored real 69 Yenko Camaro - hugger orange with black vinyl top and TT wheels. It has the orig - born with motor.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
No offense taken on any of the post - looking to have great time at the show and seeing some new cars and meeting some great people.

Matt is putting together quite a show. I spoke to him this morning and he has landed quite a few nice Camaros, including two original Cross Ram Z28's. He must be one exhausted individual...he just finished with the SuperNationals in January...see you up there.
-
I don't think it is correct to say this is "1 of 6 " unconverted Yenko 1968 COPO 9737 Camaros.
There is a Yenko ad that shows 6 of them for sale but that does not mean there was only 6 sold as special hi po SS396 Camaros.
The Yenko ad was run late in the year. They were probably more then 6 sold during the year based on the other known Yenko info
-
Joe, do you have the proposed Yenko ad? I'd like to see that and have a copy of that for my records please. Tom Billigan mentioned this to me but was not able to provide a copy due to a very fuzzy copy that he had.
If there is a better number to use, or a better reference I would be happy to use that or qualify it that way as well.
Appreciate your help with the ad.

Very, Very Nice
I you can do you know which vendor or brand hood you choose to use?
I have been concidering the same hood swap for my 68, it seems just like wheels,,, a set of choices just is as fun as my wife wanting 100+ pair of shoes & hairdo's. Well you know what I mean
Thanks
