Title: LSD diff tag
Post by: My68SS on May 17, 2006, 05:35:11 PM
Did the 12 bolt posi [and others] have a stamped metal tag under a cover bolt as well as the plastic tag around the filler plug?

I've never seen one of a 1st gen.   I did have one on a 1975 Trans Am (LIMITED SLIP LUBE ONLY) so I'm guessing it's a 2nd gen. thing.

My wife and I  were at the Super Car Reunion in Springfield,MO several years ago and noted a metal posi tag on the rear cover of a 67 Yenko. Our 2-E 67 L-35 has the plastic tag on the rear fill plug. I can barely make out the "Use Positraction Diff Lubricant Only" on the tag.

My original 68 12 bolt posi had only the red plastic tag on the fill plug.

I've never seen a metal posi tag on a first gen.

I have not seen one on a 67-69 Camaro either.

I have seen one on a 69 Buick Skylark and I am pretty sure it was original.

Probably was - Buick made their own axles.

Wow, one of my first questions on this forum dug up from a dark, dusty corner  :)
Thanks for reviving it and the answers guys!
