I have raised this issue once befor on the forum, but I can not get my alternator pulley to line up with the water pump & harmonic balancer pulleys on my 1967 small block 327. The latter two are fine, but the alternator pulley is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch behind the other two. I purchased a new upper bracket and still no luck. Could the alternator be incorrect for this year block? I have attached two pictures. Any one out there see anything???

Here are a few more pictures with the upper bracket in place.

It's not uncommon to have to shim the pulley & fan forward with e few washers.
Also, the deep groove alt pulley (I think) has a little more offset that may require no or fewer washers/shims, just in case you were thinking of using one.

The stock lower bracket locates the alternator, the upper bracket has nothing to do with it. I had to shim my pulley an 1/8" and I run a Delco. The upper ear belongs behind the upper bracket.

My mistake. I see that now. I have been running a '69 snowflake since '84 and don't run the stock upper.

I talked to an alternator shop and they are just going to put a double pulley on the alternator. I will use the outside groove and it should pretty much line up with the other two pulleys. That should hopefully get rid of the squeak.

Something is askew. You should not have to do that if the components are correct.
