Is there a real tell tale way to find out if your console had gauges. My car has the riv nuts in place for the console but i dont see any wiring for gauges? hELP?
-
Does the car have a fuel gauge in the right hand gauge pod?? There's the first clue it didn't have console gauges. The second clue would be to see if it has a low fuel warning lens in the lower left hand of the speedometer gauge. My bet is that with no harness, it is not a console gauge car.

What year car is it?
If it is a 67 then there will be a large square hole in the top / front.

Tachometer should be in the dash pod on the right side instead of the fuel gage, at least for a '69.
Also, engine compartment wiring is different. For a car with factory gages, both the engine harness and the front light wiring harnesses are different than cars without factory gages. Cars with gages have the tach lead built into the engine harness, and the ammeter leads built into the front light harness.
Non gage cars would have the fuel line going to the dash, instead of to the console for car with gages. For non gage cars, the engine temp lead would also have gone to the dash idiiot light instead of down to the console where it would go for cars with gages.
Parts readily available in the aftermarket to make this a fairly transparent conversion. You can buy the required console extension harness and new engine and front light harnesses (for cars with gages) for under the hood.

it does have a fuel gauge in the cluster. Guess its not a gauge car. It is a 1968 z28. I also found one more item that look s weird, there is a 2 prong grommeted connector under the wiper motor. any clues?

Connection for the back up light harness to the Muncie shifter.

Could this prong also be for all 4 speed car? What years?

Yep, that's what it is.

Thanks again for the help!
