Well, I left a total of 3 messages at the company that makes the bell housing tool, I am done. After reading all the info here at CRG I decided to purchase that tool. However they just don't seem to want to sell me one. I guess I am small time.
Not real good business. I have returned most ALL my calls with-in a 24 hour period for the last 25 years.
Anyway, anybody know the trick to getting this tool? I got a 73' bridgeport 5 feet away, with digital calibration. I can turn my own if I can just borrow someones. I was trying to support a company, but I am ageing waiting for them to call me back.
Any idea's.........Danny

Whats wrong with a dial indicator and a magnetic base? If you're a car guy these 2 things should already be in your toolbox ???
-
How do you get the magnetic base to true center on crankshaft?
-
Hey Rodent, yes I have those tools. I have TOO many tools really. But I am in agreement with Tmodel. It can float all over the area. Be nice to have something that can be screwed to the center of the crank. Hence the whole purpose of this tool. Oh well, I don't need it right this second. Maybe something will turn up. Then I am going to make 25 of them and sell them....ha ha.........Danny

Maybe Jerry will stop by and give us the nuts and bolts on how to use the dial indicator.
-
I have one. Use the dial indicator. Not quick and easy, far more accurate. That's all I have to say about that.

The dial indicator on the bell housing way is a PITA, and not accurate. The indicator is not reading on a machined surface and it has never been a good way to do this job. Brian Browell is a Competition Eliminator racer. He's the one who makes the tool. The class that he runs is the next step down from Pro Stock so I don't think he's out of business. I would check around some of the NHRA sites and ask. Class racer is a good place to start.

It doesn't have to be in the centre (http://www.camaros.org/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif)
