Title: copo 427 block
Post by: mikes 67 on November 20, 2010, 04:03:48 PM
I have a 1969 427 copo block  MN code with the partial vin of    19n620036 .  The block is in great shape with no cracks or damage. I googled the vin number and found an old ebay listing from 2005 for the car this engine goes to. originaly golympic gold but repainted garnet red, somewhere in florida.  I would like to see this block reunited with this car if possible.  does anyone have any information on this car?.

It has been straightened out and is Olympic Gold again.

Post this on the Yenko site; I'm sure someone there knows where it is.

Yup, that's the car. Engine was pulled and sold years ago. Great to hear it still survives!
I lost track of the car in the last few years.
Here's some info on it before it became red: http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7076&page=1

What's the engine code? Or better yet, can you send me a pic of the engine pad?

I would like to see that stamping too.  That is B. Wenzel's car.  W. Shemeckly owns it now.  Was not restored the way it was when sold new.  Ben stated that there were 23 copos on the lot when he purchased his.  He just wanted to cheapest one.  All of the Berger window stickers were listed c/o D. Arons Race cars.........cool stuff,

Jerry

Mike,

Where did the engine turn up.  Ben sold it when it was new in the Merrill, MI area.  He has purchased a blue printed 427 that was ready for Super Stock class.  That's why he unloaded the oem engine.

I bought the engine in Kawkawlin Michigan, about 35 miles North East of merrill, from a man who bought it at an estate sale. An old man passed away and this engine sat in his garage for years. I didnt get the old mans name.
The engine was missing the crank, but the rods and pistons were there, and it had the wrong heads with it , closed chamber rectangle ports but with the wrong dates, the intake could be original, the date is correct. the carb and all of the external bolt ons were gone also. Not to suprising after 40 years i guess.

I live in Midland  Michigan,  about 25 miles north of Merrill, so the engine hasnt traveled very far.            Mike.

Try using zabasearch.com or superpages.com - there can't be a lot of folks with that last name.

I talked to Wayne tonight, He wants the block, we just have to work out the details.

Thank you to everyone who helped me to contact him.

Does anyone know what the value of the original block to the cars owner would be, I dont expect a fortune, just todays market value. I would apreciate anyones input on this.

Thanks,  Mike.
