Hello all! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a source for obtaining a new heater core for my 68' Camaro. I've heard some horror stories about some of the aftermarket replacements. I appreciate any advise. Thank you!

About 5 years ago, I purchased one from my local AutoZone. I was shocked that it was a stock item. I think these heater cores were used in a number of GM cars for a lot of years. I believe I paid about $35 for it. One suggestion I would give you before you install any heater core, is to have it pressure tested by a radiator shop before you install it.
Nothing worse than spending the better part of a day replacing it, and then find out it leaks. Don't ask me how I know. :-\

I send then out and recore them using the original dated tanks.Try to avoid using china repop parts as much as possible. John Allouez Restorations

That's what I'm trying to avoid....Going through the headache of doing the job, but then to replace the core with a cheap p.o.s. Any idea how I can get in touch with John Allouez Restorations? Sounds like restoring my old one might be a good way to go. Thank you!

Any radiator shop, that is good, can put a new core between the old tanks. If you ever looked at a radiator supply catalog you would see dimensions listed for core replacements.

Thanks! I give it a shot.
