Title: timing tab painted or not painted
Post by: john302 on October 04, 2010, 01:42:31 PM
Is the timing tab painted or not ? 1968 z/28 but I am sure all engines would be the same. My original 68 z engine was never painted and it is bare.  thanks John Allouez Restorations

My 68 R/S Z28 Nor 04D is not painted. It had been stored since 74, so I think it's original.

The timing tab on the timing cover was painted; it's welded to the timing cover, and the timing cover and balancer were in place when the engine was painted.

Thanks John. I found out that afternoon, right after my post, that mine was incorrect. Jerry M. is the one that pointed it out to me, he was in the process of certifying my car.

My Mistake,
