Title: 67 SS Hood Louvers
Post by: GSD5 on September 21, 2010, 11:43:55 AM
Has anyone ever tried to restore the chrome accents on the tips of the louvers? Looks pretty much impossible to get right to me, but was just curious. The existing ones are original and in otherwise very good shape, so i've not been able to make myself pull the trigger on the repros yet

The whole louver gets plated. Then painted black. The peaks would have to be masked off. All I did was wipe off the tops after shooting with SEM Trim Black. Piece of cake. If they are not pitted you could have them rechromed. I have no data on repro 67 louver quality.

Thanks, I was wondering if that might not be how they do it in the factory...i appreciate the info. We have a local restoration shop that has them in stock, I think i will go have a gander at the repros!
