Title: 67' Speedometer cable firewall hole question
Post by: Brandan on July 23, 2010, 02:04:50 PM: From what I can understand the '67 automatic and Saginaw both used the same firewall hole for the speedometer cable is that right? I have a pic of my firewall and want to double check.

That's correct - every transmission except the Muncie used that speedo cable hole.

I also believe that it routes under the frame kind of like the parking brake cable and turns toward the center of the car. I want to say that the length is aroun 69 inches.... but not sure....

I think the AIM shows the cable goes around the bottom of the chassis (like the parking brake), so I would think that the longer (69") cable would be correct. Any help on this one. Also where can I get one?

Post by: JohnZ on July 25, 2010, 04:16:23 PM: The speedo cable routing is shown in your Assembly Manual in UPC 12, sheet A3. The TH350 wasn't available in 1967 - don't know which cable length is correct for it.

I looked at all the parts dealers and with so many different cables it is easy to get confused. Also Bob thanks for the post. Unfortunately I don't have cruise.

This is my 1st post, and I have been reading the comments on the speedo cable.................
I have a '68 RS/SS 396 with the Muncie 4 speed. Rolling bare body shell. I have noted the speedometer cable hole per the AIM for the big block,(under wiper motor) but I have no reference to the exact correct length of the cable. Does anybody have any info on this??
