Does anyone know if there is an L78 spec cam or real close for hydraulic lifters?

Mechanical, yes. The Crane Cams Musclecar series P/N 969961 (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-969961) (or P/N 968561 (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-968561?part=CRN-968561&N=700+400078+304821+115&autoview=sku) if you want to go even more HP).

Hydraulic, no. The closest you can come is the Crane Musclecar series P/N 969391 (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-969391). It's actually the replacement for the Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, etc... 396/350 and Vette 427/390 and 427/400 engines. I put one of these in my car a few years ago when I grenaded my other cam and really love it.

I found out that Comp Cams grinds a hydraulic versun of the 454 LS6 cam. It works amd sounds great. Works great with my automatic also.
