Title: '69 Camaro 12 Bolt Rear End Question
Post by: ChALkY on March 13, 2010, 01:31:19 AM
Hey guys! I'm new to posting here at the forums, but I have used your website many times to answer the toughest of my Camaro restoration questions. Here is a tough one, at least from my perspective. I have a 1969 Camaro with a mono-leaf setup and a 10 bolt rear end. Needless to say, that just won't cut it! :) So I purchased a Hotchkis multi-leaf setup along with the many other goodies to get rid of the mono-leaf setup. No problem installing. I purchased a 12 bolt rear end with casting number 3969341, which is stated in other forums as a late 1969 Camaro rear end or a 1970 Nova rear end. The rear end is built and ready to go, I moved the mounts to fit the new multi-leaf springs, but here is where my question comes into play. On the rear, I have 15" Torque Thrust D wheels that are 7" wide with a 4" backspace. The 10 bolt I took out is 1 inch shorter in width than the 12 bolt I am about to replace it with. This will increase each side by 1/2" by my calculations. Will the wheels and tires stay inside the fender well? Or will they rub? Feel free to correct any errors I may have made while typing this, and thanks in advance for your time! -ChALkY

um, if that 12 bolt is one inch wider than the 10 bolt you removed....it's from a second gen camaro.

The 10 and 12 bolt rear for your camaro is same size. 1 inch wider is t a 70 camaro rear not 69. Not a huge deal unless you paid extra for the 69 date
