I have a 69 Camaro ss 350 and I need to add the positive battery retainer clips (p/n 3857706). They are on page 12 A12 of the assembly manual. There are 2 of these clips and they go on the subframe and retain the positive cable. There are 2 holes for these clips. These are blind holes with no access on the back side of the holes. The clips need to be flaired (crimped or flattened) to hold them to the subframe and there is no way to get access to do this. This same clip is used on the alternator bracket for the negative cable and it looks like the clip was flaired (bent over) with a special tool.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fasten these clips to the subframe?
Thanks

In the plant, we used a "burp gun" (air hammer) with a tapered and pointed shank; as the point went through the tubular part of the clip, it expanded it behind the hole in the subframe. You could use an awl or a tapered punch to do the same thing.

Everyone has them now. They are on sale at Steve's for $15. Yes, all those little clips are pricey... I think I bought other battery cable clips that are incorrect. i wonder if I can return them (unused) after about a year??? :-(
