Title: headers
Post by: Bjv69ss on March 04, 2010, 12:45:15 AM
I'm concidering using headers on my 69 350.  Has a set been made that really fits?  My car has no A/C but has power steering.  Auto trans. too.  I don't want to have to hammer the pipes to make them fit.
Thanks

hey bjv69ss,
I just put on a set of headers on my 69z that were hooker comp. I talked to Howard at summit racing ( tech support)  and he freaking knew his stuff. Maybe you could give tech support a buzz to see if they could help. I have been through paying $$$ for headers and then beating them they would not fit.

Hooker Comps or Super Comps fit well and go in easy.

Do you have power steering?

you really should read the discussions on this over at Camaros.net

many of us have been going through this and there are alot of variables.

the new Hooker SuperComps are not what they used to be and the fit sucks....  especially if you have power steering.

in many cases, the designs look identical, until you try putting them on your car.

the headers that are known to work well are Dynatech, and Dougs, - Stahls are superb but about 3x the price (if you include ceramic coating)
the reproduction Z28 headers are also fine, but even more expensive than the Stahl versions.
cheers

Buy the Stahls, step headers will make the most power and fit like a glove.  Well worth the investment.

Yes, should not effect it.  Call them to be sure.  They are in York, PA.
