My original '68 balancer does not have the fins....Looks like the finned ones were on the earlier Corvettes.

What would the fins be cooling?

What would the fins be cooling?
Most likely someone thought it would reduce the temperature of the hub, thereby improving the durability of the elastomer material between the hub O.D. and the inertia ring I.D.; warranty and test data probably didn't support the theory, and the fins were removed. Most optional '62-'67 Corvette engines used the 8" balancer with the fins.

Have never seen any original 302 with finned balancer.

What Balancer did the'67 - 302 use? Was it the same as the 350?
-
350 8" balancer is thinner.

Can anyone tell me what the thickness is of the '67 8" balancer? I need to know the distance between the face of the balancer where the pulley bolts on, and the back side of the hub where it meets the crank?
Thanks,
Sean
