This will help decode your Cowl Tag. Lots of info on this.

Is this car Olympic Gold with a white top Black strips whit Midnight Green Std. interior?
wow what a combo...jk
-
If my understanding is correct a vinyl top color would be indicated by a letter B=Black, W=white, etc. A paint code of 60 50 would indicate a two tone paint with 65 (Olympic Gold) on the bottom, and 50 (Dover White) on top. Post photos of the car and tag.
-
Two tone paint jobs in 69 used the vinyl top chrome strips as the demarcation line between the colors. So the car should have the weld pins for the vinyl top chrome.
-
The rivets would have been there because, I believe, they used the vinyl roof trim to break the two tone up. That had to be quite a distinctive looking car.
-
Thanks the car does have weld pins, so this car was two tone Olympic Gold with Black Rally stripes Dover White top and Midnight Green Standard Interior ....
WoW what a combo How many of these cars were made?
-
I think it had to have been a custom ordered car. I highly doubt that would have been a regular factory combination. But who knows?
-
Wouldn't have had rally stripes (28 style) from the factory. You could not order those, they came automatically on Z28s and Pacecars, nothing else. An SS would have had black hockey stick stripes.
-
I just meant the exterior color and interior color combination.

They also came on the Z10 cars.
-
Not uncommon for a gold car to have dark green interior. 5909 2-tone's were made in 69 (2.4%).
I've seen a few other cars with the same color combo as yours.
-
KurtS do you think the car came with rally strips?
-
If you mean the Z stripes, no. It was not a Z28, Z10, or Z11. Would have had the hockey stick stripes if it was an SS, and an X11 could have been a 350 SS.
-
Not from the factory. Those stripes were added by someone later....

Thanks, I plan on painting it Olympic Gold with a Dover White top and go back with the Midnight Green Standard interior.
