Title: Question about cowl tag
Post by: sptrucksbyed on April 13, 2006, 01:29:13 AM
I have a 69 camaro that has been stored in the garage for 20 years. Im finally going to do something with it. I was told that it was an SS car ? The car would appear to have had a big block motor and a four speed trans. I code that i have a question about is under tha paint code there is J294 ? I was wondering if anyone knows what that means. The cowl tag reads as below.

     ST 69 12437   LOS168567

     TR 711           51 51 PNT

          11B             J294

The J294 is an internal scheduling code used only at Van Nuys; it's not related to the car's configuration.

Unfortunately there is no way to verify if your car is an SS with just the cowl tag info.
