I never thought the 678 block was 4 bolt mains, never seen one.Mine have all been 2 bolt mains for 68 MO engines ???
-
it has to be a fake or restamp MOs had 2 bolt mains
-
Hard to tell if it actually is a 4 bolt block.
No pic of the pad, but the 4 bolt feature could have been added.

Attached is a poor quality photo the seller sent me of the engine pad...

That's an original stamp.
Paul, that's real close to the one you saw on craigslist a few years ago.

the stamp looks good but is the seller sure what he is stating that it is a 4 bolt main?

I've emailed the seller regarding the main bearing cap issue.

I've emailed the seller regarding the main bearing cap issue.
Here's the seller's response... " Motor is as I got it you are welcome to open the pan at my shop to see for yourself before we finalise if you wish. It appears factory to me."

"Appears factory to me" NOT! If it was factory it would have 2 bolt mains. I downloaded the picture of the bottom side and then blew it up. It's plain to see it's a 2 bolt. It doesn't look like the splash pan is bolted down and could be removed for pictures. Also the vin #'s coincide with assembly date but the 'O' in 'MO' looks funny. The only thing factory 68 Z/28 on this motor is 'possibly the block/crank' and intake, the heads, pistons, carburetor, valve covers etc are NOT! So it comes down to this, its this a legit 68 Z/28 MO 302 BLOCK?

I believe I answered that in my post above.....
