When the alternators and power steering pumps arrived at the engine dress line, did they have the pulleys already installed?

Alternators arrived with the pulley already installed from Delco-Remy; power steering pump pulleys were installed on the pump at the car assembly plant prior to assembling the pump to the engine.

Where the alternators coded so that they would find there way to the correct engine assembly? How did the correct p/s pulleys get installed on the pump & engine assembly?

Alternators carried an ink-stamped 2-letter broadcast code, and the correct code was shown on the Chassis Broadcast Copy for each car. Same for P/S pulleys - the broadcast code was stamped on the pulley, following the part number.
