I just bought a 69 all original to restore. Interior code 723 midnight green, my question is what color was carpet, it's missing? It also has black headrest and black dash pad, is this correct?
-
My '69 SS is 723 and the carpet is dark green and the dash pad is dark green and the head rest is dark green. Get the picture? LOL Laying all jokes aside everything on the inside is dark green.
-
I get the picture, dark green. But are there factory variations. This car is original according to the lady who owned it for the last 35 years.
-
Everything inside a car with a 723 Midnight Green interior would be dark green except for the instrument cluster and the seat belts (unless it was ordered with deluxe seat belts). It would not have left the plant with a black dash pad and headrests.
-
The instrument cluster would be painted dark green on the sides of it.
The headrests of a dark green interior fade to black. Look at the bottom side of the headrest and it will be green.

Thanks guys, this is my 4th 69 but my 1st restore. I have alot to learn and alot of questions to ask. thanks

Was the top of the dash between the windsheild and the pad always painted interior color (on any Camaro) or was is low gloss black to eliminate glare ?
-
The dash top on all 1st gen Camaros was interior color with a 'suede' additive mixed in to create a slightly wrinkled, non-glare finish. Same stuff was used on rear speaker & defroster grilles. The front of the dash was semi-gloss; maybe satin.
