Title: Convertible question
Post by: outlaw17 on December 27, 2009, 03:54:20 PM
I am doing the body and paint on a 67 convertible for a guy I know and I came across a spot that I am unfamilliar with. The panel that is between the trunk lid and the top , on a hard top it is left to look like a seperate piece, but on this car it had the lines like it was a seperate piece but when I stripped it down it was done with filler and what was under it was a lead joint, what I need to know is if this is a smoothed area on a convert. or if it should have the joint lines.

They're smoothed, hence the lead. They either put the lines in not aware of what's correct or cracking was evident and used a faux seam as an expansion joint.
