Back in 69 I purchased a Z/28 in August of that year. About the same time a friend of mine purchased a base coupe. I was trying to remember what options it came with. My memory from 40+ years tells me that it was a 307 with a column shift. It was daytona yellow with a vinyl roof and black standard interior.
Other than the basic 6 cylinder, what did you get in a base car back then.
My Z was a very low option car with no tach, no console, and radio delete. Both of us had just graduated from college and had very little money and new jobs. They were probably the lowest priced Camaros on the lot.

You get everything from page 9 to page 185 of the assembly manual that applies to the base V8 ! :P
BTW. Anyone know what the engine codes are for the base 327 and the 307?
Lxx ?

Cool. My 69 assembly manual went with my last 69 Camaro about 5 years ago.

Yup,
307cid/200hp = L14
327cid/210hp = LF7

Look here at items provided by the factory:

Interesting that it had a vinyl top... Sometimes dealers ordered or added one to spruce up (and sell) a low end car.
-
My 307 also came with the vinyl top. It's long gone, but I may replace it eventually. It also came with the style trim option.

My base car has Style Trim and Deluxe Interior!

I guess you could get a base car and add some options. My friend traded a mustang for the Camaro and I am pretty sure it also had D80. He eventually got rid of it because he had about 6 inches of water in the trunk after a heavy rain and it sloshed into the back seat and rear floor. There were quite a few 69 Camaros at this dealer late in the year because of the new edition being late. This dealer had gathrered all the 69s from many dealerships, and there was a lot of oddball colors and high dollar multi optioned cars as well as low optioned cars.
-
If by a base car you mean not a COPO, SS or Z, then most other options were available on the base cars.

This is the reason I hate the term 'base car'. And why it's not used on the site pages.
If you're talking X-codes, that means a car without style trim. So a X66 L78 is a base car??
If you're talking engines, a car with power windows, dlx interior, gauges, AC, etc, but a 307 is a base car??
I'll say there is no such thing as a base car. A car with a base engine, yes. A sparsely optioned car, yes. A car without style trim, yes. :)

As Kurt says, a "base" car is a car without options. You get a 6-cyl, standard interior, manual 3 speed on the column. :D Your car was not a "base" car, because the 307 was an option. :)
-
I'm with Kevin here. A base car is a car with no options. I also expect there are not many of those around.

Along the same line... My car is an X11 SS. No A/C, tilt, gauges, does have a console. Has a posi rear, dual exhaust hangers as part of the frame. It is a 300 hp 350 auto trans car. Standard interior and has an SS hood. Is it an SS? How does one find out. Friends say there was no such thing as an X11 SS.

Sauron327 Thanks! It appears that it is an SS.
-
If the partial vin on the 350 matches the vin on the dash, and it's not a restamp, it's an SS. All 350 & 396 were SS. If I'm wrong, I'll be corrected, again.
-
What about the LM-1?

It would be more correct to say that "ALL L-48 and 396" were SS; that excludes the L-65 and LM1 350's.
