Title: 68 Z front and rear springs
Post by: jims68z on December 07, 2009, 07:12:39 PM
I finally got the frame and underside of the car painted and am ready to assemble.  I need to buy front and rear springs.  The car is a 68 Z and would have the 4 leaf springs in the back.  I am not sure I want to pony up to the $400 for a set of correct springs when I should be able to buy a good set of replacements for just under $200.  I do not plan to have the car judged or anything.  Can anyone give me advice on a good set of replacements to get a good ride height?  What about the fronts?  Any advice on them as well?  Where would be the best place to buy them?

On the rear springs, instead of going to HB City and paying his mark up price, go to Bob Harris of Camaro Specialties. He's the person that's actually having them made and according to Jerry, they're right on the money. Bob also has the best deal on them too.

Why are you replacing them? I had my originals rearched and they are doing great over a year later.

I am replacing the front ones because there was a big block in the car when I bought it and I am restoring it back to original with the correct 302.  The rear springs have been modified because there are only 3 correct leaves and someone put 2 misc leaves in each one to bring it to a total of 5 leaves.

Thanks all.  I ended up buying them from Bob at Camaro Specialties.  I read a lot of good feedback about him and he was very helpful and he had the best prices.
