1969 Z/28  X33 D80 only 1969 Z in the world with a Mid Life Crisis front tag on it, so that makes it a one of one.  Paid $6,000,000.00 for it six years ago, but they shipped it for free.   I am getting upset with it though because I'm always getting beat at car shows by a 1967 Camaro SS with spoilers, 327 emblems on the fenders , and rally stripes. ;)

1969 Base Coupe RS with 327/210 Hp, Powerglide, 2.73:1 open rear end.  I've had the car for 18 years now.  Purchased it off the showroom floor at a Chevy dealership in Baton Rouge, LA on 1 Nov 1991 for $12,000.  Engine in the car was not original.  Found a correct 327 in March 1994 from a donor '69 Camaro that was being parted out.  Car has the original interior and after 18 yrs of TLC is a great car to take a drive in.  As you guys (and gals) know, a 1st Gen Camaro turns heads whenever and wherever it is seen in public.

Saw an ad in a newspaper when I lived on Long Island in 1983.  It read "1968 Camaro SS/RS 350, 4 speed. No engine.  $1,100."  I bought it.  It was a very complete and original car (except engine) and only needed a little body work, paint and a few other odds and ends.   Rallye Green, deluxe interior, console, M21, 3:73.

I AM TRYING TO FIND PREVIOUS OWNER(S).

I have had my 69 Camaro for 3 years.
Paid too much for it, since the bottom fell out of the econony a year later and Camaro prices dropped.

my 69 burnished brown x-77 car purchased in 1978 for $3,000. paid that much because it only had 32,000 miles on it. the interior still has that new car smell! my 67 butternut yellow rs/ss 350 i bought in 1984 for $2,800 from the original owner. during the restoration two years ago, i reached out to the original owner, who came to my house with his wife and two kids and spent the afternoon talking about the car. at the end of the day, he stated that he was pretty sure that he still had the original bill of sale for the car. it is now framed in my garage with a picture of the car from back in 67, and the bill of sale from him to me. jerry was just up to certify the car, which was purchased new at Village chevrolet in queens village, ny. the same dealer that sold jerry's 13,000 mile survivor.

I purchased my 1967 Camaro RS convertible in June of 1978 for $750 Canadian. It has a 327/210 hp engine, 2 speed powerglide, power steering, power brakes, power top, power windows and 12 bolt positraction rear end. Most of my friends and relatives thought I paid too much for it. It was drivable but needed a lot of work.

I purchased my 69 Z10 from the original owner in Sept 1999.  POP & Window sticker.  05A car, L48, M20, and a CE engine dated coded to July of 1969.  The original 18 year old owner must have tested his new warranty also!  The CE engine is on a stand, and a ZZ4 now fills up the engine bay.  One repaint.
Paid: $8,000.   ;D

I purchased my 69 Z in Nov 79for $1500, had a 427 4 spd with 4:88's.  It was painted Silver with white strips.  It had Road Hugger G70-15 and L60-15 Bias Ply on Rally's.  It is a Daytona Yellow car built 02D.  The car has 53k on it.  Has a blown 502 5 spd in it now.  I have a Dec 68 DZ shortblock and Apr 69 DZ block.  Would love to trade one for a Feb 69 block.

I bought my Camaro in Oct 1979 and paid $1600 for it. I bought it while away at college and my dad blew a gasket when I told him about it!! He thought that I was crazy for spending that much money on an 'old car'. Sadly, he passed away before having a chance to see the car after I did a ground up resto on it.

I can't think of anything else that I have owned for 30 years!!!!

68 327, PG with original ac and added front disc brakes.  I bought it five years ago and paid $17500 for it.  It had had a partial restoration two years before (and a little bit of cloning, which I have corrected).  I've put around $5k into it since I got it.

Currently own the following:
1969 Camaro Indy Pace Car.  Bought in 2000 from little old lady in West Virginia who was the original owner.  It had been sitting in a barn since 1979.  I paid $14,500.
1969 Camaro X44.  Bought in 2006 for $4,000.  Actually, all I bought was a shell from the firewall back.

I used to own:
1969 Camaro X44.  Paid $90 for it in 1986 and drove it home.  It was ugly and my first project car.  It came out awesome and I later sold it to a car dealer at a wholesale auction for $3,100 (a ton of money to me back then) so I could buy a 1979 Trans Am with T-tops.

1969 Camaro Z/28 for $10 in Homestead, FL in 1993 (no engine or trans).  I was a roofer doing work right after hurricane Andrew and saw the car sitting in the front yard of a not very nice house in a not very nice neighborhood.  The lady on the front porch told me to give her $10 and I could take it.  I sprained my wrist reaching into my pocket to get her the money.  By today's standards, it was very restorable (and I should have) but I chose to part it out.  The posi rear and all of the manual transmission parts made it into my other 1969 Camaro.

1969 Camaro X11.  Paid $1000 in 1991 and was a complete restoration in which it became an SS350 clone.

1968 Camaro covertible.  Paid $1600 in 1998.  My first subframe off restoration.  Sold it for $16000 and bought my pace car.

I also bought a 1968 Chevelle SS396 with almost every option you could get back then.  (I would love to find an equally optioned 69 Camaro SS396).  It ran, but it needed some work.  I only paid $350 for it.  I just could not get into Chevelle and abandoned the project half way through so I could buy another 1969 Camaro.

Paid $11,500 in 2000 for a 67 SS/RS convertible survivor, 68 k miles, POP, original paint, white w/red deluxe interior, headrests, shoulder harness, tilt, pw, A/C, fold down rear seat, mag wheel covers, AM-FM, auto, 350, front and rear guards. San Diego car.  Second owner sold it because the kids were fighting over it in her will.

a near twin to the 58 k mile 68 SS/RS convertible, 4 speed, tilt, gauges, white w/red standard, console 8-track, headrests, window sticker, original invoice.  $3200 in 82.  Found the original redline spare in the trunk with the boot.
Both are matching numbers, original shocks, 68 has a new clutch, exhaust, and a repaint in 78. Wisconsin car. Saw it at Iola in the rain.  Second owners sold it because they just had their 3rd kid.

Hey guys- new to forum. I bought my '68 SS in Sept. '83 from the 2nd owner for $2300. Original 350/295, Muncie M20, 12 bolt posi w/4.10s and original black std. interior. Pulled the 350, (it's still on the engine stand) rebuilt the 4spd, and dropped in a 327/350hp. that I already had. That motor was a screamer! Since '02 the car's received a "killer" 350, (actually 355) an Auto Gear M22W, and interior work by CHP and Lucas Restorations. My motto: Go Fast, Look Stock.  Oh, BTW car is LeMans Blue w/white stripe.    Larry

Bought my 68 RS/Z  03/03/70. I traded in a 65 Impala 327 4spd. SS plus $1370 at Reliable Chevrolet in Springfield, Mo.  I was cruising with a friend in his 68 SS 396/350/4spd. Camaro...we saw the car. I wasn't a fan  of the 69 yet and I thought it was 69, he said it was a 68, I put $50 down in 10 minutes.  I had just passed on a 68 375 Hp. Camaro...because it didn't have the rect.. heads.  All the mags implied it was outdated.  I had also just passed on a 69 SS chevelle 375 Hp. and a 67 427 Vette..I didn't know what it was, did I mention it was a radio/heater delete car...sitting on a used car lot!!!  I  was going to college then and use to watch another student drive a 427 Cobra to school every day.  My 68 Z is an all original survivor.

Great post. I bought my 69 RS/Z28 back in May of 76. I was 19 and making $2.50 an hour. I paid $2750 for it and that didn't leave me much money for gas. But it was well worth it. My Z has lasted me longer than two marriages and a hand full of girl friends. You just have to know where your priorities lie.

Srange how this takes you back.  Like most everyone else, I thought that I had paid too much.

I found my 69 4 speed car in a repo yard behind a credit union in 1988. Huggar orange w/ a block vinal top Bid $1200 and took it to my work parking lot becaue my wife said it looked to nasty to leave in front of the house.  It ran and drove but wasnt in the best of shape. Someone had most of the body work done so much of the chrome was missing.Interior reminded me of a chicken coop.    It looks a lot better now and I still only have about 4 grand in it I've done all the work except spray the paint on it.   Jm

Yes, it takes you back! I got my first '68 in 1975 as a graduation present. I totalled it in 1980 and kept an eye out for another one. One day in 1981 I spied a '67 Rally Sport body in a yard out in the country. It was just a body--no engine or tranmission--but the rest was pretty much there. It was a 327/PG car with deluxe interior, console, speed warning, p/s and p/b and it had the Protect-O-Plate. I borrowed $200 from my employer and dragged the hulk home.
I had a '67 Impala and I swapped the 283 and PG into the Caamro, got it running, put a windshield in it and painted it, but it just wasn't a '68. The '67 was missing some of the RS hardware and trim, and back then the stuff wasn't readily available as it is today.
In May of 1983 I ran across a fellow with a '68 coupe with a 327/250 and Muncie that wanted to swap, and we did--even. The '68 was in primer and missing a lot of trim and interior pieces, but it was a '68. Looking back, most would say I should have kept the '67 RS because it would be worth a lot more today, so I probably paid too much in that respect.
I wouldn't change a thing. With a warmed-over 400 small-block my faithful '68 ran mid-12s at the drag strip and I drove it every day for almost 10 years. I acquired a mortgage and it sat and rotted until 2004, when i got serious about restoring it.
Today it has had a frame-off with the very best parts and is awaiting paint when this doggone recession finally ends. It'll be the '68 I dreamed of building way back in 1975, and unlike a wife or a g/f, it doesn't nag or demand my time. It waits patiently as it has for 26 years.

$6200.00 for my 69 RS Z in 1982. Was huge money then. Still looks great and runs great. Has not been re-painted since then, but engine rebuilt and other mechanical work done. Still has original engine, trans, and rear, etc. I was lucky to get this one. Didn't buy it to make money, but only for that little 302!!

I purchased my first 69 Z in 1976. It was a rs as well and was hugger orange, black vinyl and stripes. I sold in in 1983 when I got married to purchase our first home. I lived in a suburb of philly and purchased the car in Cherry Hill, NJ. I advertised the car in Super Chevy and sold it to a gentlemen in TX. He sold it in 1986 and I have been in pursuit of the car since that time. So for 20 plus years I would call the owner 2-3 times a year hoping he would part with the car. Basically the conversations were always the same; he would ask "how much is it worth now" and nothing more. This past Oct 14th I received a call from the owner Mark S. he stated he wanted to sell. I had to take care of some family issues, but two weeks later I was on a plane to TX. The car needs some work as it hasn't been run for over 15 years, but still retains its original drivetrain and is loaded with options. Well a month worth of negotiation and she is on her way home. Although I haven't owned the car continuously I have owned and pursued the car for 30 years.

Bought my '68 SS in '83 for 4k.  Came with a '66 427/425.  Been working on it ever since, off and on...

Passed up on a '69 Z28 RS hugger orange w/ white stipes for 4900.  Stupid now.  But back then, I was in high school looking for a hot rod.  Makes it worse seeing the exact car, all original, unrestored, at Steve's Camaro Parts...  Then again, I would have probably swapped stuff out as I beat the heck out of it racing around the streets!  If I knew then...
