I have a '69 SS with X 55 cowl plate. I figured out some of it but what does L 48 stand for. Also I can't figure out what the numbers are on the little steel plate that was in the dash with the owners manual. Everything is printed backwards and I can't make hide nor hair of it. Can I post it and get some help with that? I have it in hand so I can copy it any time.
Thanks
Daniel

Face it at a mirror in the bathroom and you will be able to read it better. ;)
That is a cool thing to have!
-Mark.

You can also scan it and view as a mirror image & keep the jpeg in your Camaro file ;)

Thanks for all the replys but I am still having a problem figuring out what some of it means. I mean some of the stuff is confusing. If you have this certain number it might be Z87 or something and if you have this number you have Z24 or something else. Then you get into subsections of this section and this certain number belongs to this other subsection and around and around I go. But anyway I am still just as lost.
But THANKS
Daniel

Did you click on the link that 68ZProject posted above? It is straighforward if you use the info posted.

Can someone explain what the heck that was about?

You won't have to ban me I'll not be back if that's the way the high and mighty feel about it. I was simplying asking a question about my car numbers UNDER THE NUMBERS DECODING HEADER. My car list parts of several different options and I have several different items in my car. For instants I read all cars come with black seat belts except if it had some other option and that changes other options and depends on something else. I was just a little confused. But you all don't have to worry about me NO MORE. I mean this site is good but YOU ain't GOD.

tmodel, my post have nothing to do with yours. We had a "yoyo" making posts that are deleted now that had nothing to do with this site.
He was quoted and that was deleted by a mod.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Heres my try:
C= Carter Carb
124379N667804 is your VIN
7 = vehcle build month which is July
BM0630G is your rear axle assembly date, BM is a 3.31 non posi axle assembled on 06/30/69 at the Detroit gear plant.
T0626HA is the engine assembly code, T= Tonawanda, 0624 is June 24th, HA is a 350/300HP L48 engine with a standard transmission
133 can vary based on its position on the POP, but should be 1= power steering RPO N40, 3 = U63 AM radio, 3=J52 power disc brakes(j52 is just the disc/drum part).
P9H24 is your transmission assembly day, P= Muncie, 9= 69 model year, H=July, 24= 24th day of month. POPs do not indicate if its an M21,M21, or M22, but since this is an L48 car the transmission will be an M20.

Daniel,
Sorry for that distraction. None of that was directed at you.
Just a spammer that snuck onto the board. :(
He's gone and I (and Mark) cleaned up some of the posts about him.
Let us know if you have any questions about Mark's decode of your POP. :)
-
First off I need to apologize to everyone for going off like I did. It was kinda hard for me to understand what I did wrong to get that attention. Now back to the topic. The POP said my M20 was built the 24 of July. My cowl plate has an 07 A build date. Is that right? Also on my POP where the options for the radio and brakes are off. The first number is in row B not row A. This is exactly how it is laid out.
B M 0 6 3 0 G for the transmission but here is where it gets weird for the radio and brakes
1 3 3 with the A position blank. The way I decode it is 1=J52 3= any radio 3 =J52 according to the CRG report on POPs
-
Nope your transmission was built 24th of June I fat fingered it. H is June. If the A position is blank then its J50 any radio, and J52.
-
Thanks Mark, Now 1 more question and I won't bother you again with this. Why does it list both brake options?

J50 is power assist for the brakes (drum or disc), and J52 is specifically power disc brakes.

Thanks for all the help. Now I can put this puppy to bed.
