Title: 1968 windshield washer pump outlets
Post by: 68rsssrag on April 06, 2006, 04:06:12 AM
Can anyone give me some guideance on the direction of the 3 ports on the bottom of the washer pump for a 1968 BB convertible (not sure there is any variation because of BB or Convertible). The AIM shows the ports facing to the front of the car like 1967. From what I can see 1968 was a different part from 1967 and 1969.

However I looked at numerous pics and 2 original cars and found that half point to the driver side, in other words 90 degrees to the LHS. I checked my pre-disassemly pics and mine are 90 deg to the LHS as well. What gives?

I went to a show this weekend and looked at 12 68 Camaros, some large block and some small.  You are right it was about half and half.  The size block didn't seem to matter, however.
Mine is a small block and straight forward.  I didn't want to force it, but it almost feels like it could turn across at the connection to 90 degrees.

Thanks for the input, maybe Kurt S or John Z have a file on this somewhere. I wonder if there is a time factor. If the AIM is correct GM may have carried over the 1967 straight ahead and then changed to avoid the accelerator linkage, esp. on BB.

I'll stick with 90 to the left as my original pre-resto pics show.
