Title: Special Paint Codes
Post by: HOT3O2 on November 14, 2009, 12:14:14 AM
I have a 69 Camaro with the special paint code (- B). I know the "B" is for black vinyl top. The car has been painted a few times. Is there any way of know what the original color was? I don't have any paper work on the car. I'm new to this site and look forward to getting some good advice and maybe making some new friends along the way. Thanks

I would pull the roofrail weatherstrip channel and see what color is under it.They almost never get removed during a paint job.

There's lots of hidden places to check - floors, trunk rods, under the wiring protectors, etc.

One of the best places to check is the cowl area behind the fenders as shown in the photo below.  This Camaro was repainted gold, but the original color was orange as indicted on the cowl.
