Title: Front & rear maximum tire size
Post by: MarkB on November 09, 2009, 04:43:41 PM
Hi
Restoring 1969Z.  We have stock 15 x 7" rally factory rims & standard suspension.  What is the maximum size (width) tire that can be used without interference on this car?
I saw a couple of old postings that talked about the rears, but not the fronts.

Thanks in advance.

235/60/15 in front is probably the biggest.

I've seen guys run 255/60/15 out back, but that's a bit too much for a 7 inch wheel - IMO.

My '69Z has its original springs and wheels - it had 235/60-15 T/A radials on it when I bought it, and I had rubbing issues at the top of the front wheel openings (on the wheel opening moldings) at full lock; I replaced them with 215/65-15 T/A's (closer to the original E70-15 size), and have no rubbing now.
