Title: Window Handle Repair
Post by: CRM on November 08, 2009, 02:55:06 AM
I have a very original, low mileage '68 Camaro. Last weekend after taking the car out, the knob on the window handle came off in my hand. I don't want to put a repo part on it for a variety of reasons, including the originality and the fact that the repo ones available are of a different color.

It is possible to repair these? What is the procedure to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Check out the HELP section at your auto parts store for a close functional replacement knob. There is a decent replacement knob out there. Some of the resto parts houses have it but I have not used it before.

Drill , tap, Loctite, thrust washer, end it. What color is it?

I thought it might go something like that.

I have a deluxe gold interior, so the knobs are sort of goldish, with a little green and tan thrown in to making it difficult to describe.

Thanks.
