Title: Stereo for my 67 convertible
Post by: my124677n on November 07, 2009, 05:10:39 AM
Need some help with my upcoming stereo purchase for my 67 convertible.  Does anyone have any reviews of those Custom Autosound brand stereos. I'm looking at the 200 watt version. Also, since I have a droptop, I'm looking at those flat speakers from ss396.com that fit under the seats. Anyone have any experience with any of this. Thanks.

I've heard of folks having a lot of trouble with the Custom Autosound stuff--some vendors have stopped recommending them. The Ken Harrison units seem to be about the best on the market these days. I have a Harrison with the CD player and have had no problems with it so far. Good luck.

One option is to call or e-mail Larry. Dedicated and knowledgeable. He's doing an AM conversion for me and I supply him with cores when I have them. He'll tell you what speakers to buy and why and provide you with the proper installation methods to achieve optimum sound. http://woodradios.com/index.htm
An unfortunate circumstance or a rarity, but my Ken Harrison had a meltdown 2 years into it.

I just got the new 630 model and it is definitely not a thumper but works well so far. I love the fact that is has a USB port where I can plug in my Thumb Drive with thousands of songs on it. It lets you select folders and displays all the Tag info from the MP3 files. It has Amp outputs if you want a thumper.

Thanks for the input.  After looking through a ton of websites and forums, I think I'm going to go with the Ken Harrison KHE-200 model.  Thanks.

The USB was what did it for me.
