Title: Correct Bolt for '67 Rear Bumper Bracket
Post by: MyRed67 on October 06, 2009, 07:53:54 AM
I have looked at my '67 AIM, I'm trying to figure out how long #3909140 is.  It says in the AIM this bolt replaced #3831892 which I believe was 3/8" -16 X 1 1/2".   I know it is supposed to have the point on the end with a 1" captured flat washer.  I have several that are 1 1/2" long, and I think 4 that are only 1".   This is the bolt that attaches the Rear Bumper Bracket to the Body.  I believe there are 8.   Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

I have all the originals in front (I believe) of me (missing 1 bolt for smaller bracket). They are all 1 1/2 " long.

The only difference is the smaller 2 brackets (of which I am missing one bolt for some reason I had it at one time) that each has 1 bolt, those are different slightly: the washers are 1/8" smaller (1 1/8 " for the 6 bolts and these 2 that have 1" washers) and they are threaded on the pointed part of the bolt whereas the other 6 the threads stop at the point.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply!   I hadn't noticed, but now that I checked you're right, 2 of the mdo have 1" washer and the rest are 1 1/8".
