Title: 67 Standard Grille
Post by: MyRed67 on October 02, 2009, 09:31:49 AM
I am restoring my '67 standard Grille.   I am using an NOS #3891693 center Grille.   The Grille has 3 extra tabs with no holes in them on one edge of the backside, do these tabs go on the top or on the bottom?   Thanks for any help!

Hi Jon, thanks for the reply.  I found a picture that shows the tabs I'm speaking of, in the picture they are showing them on the bottom.   But I trust your judgement more, I'm not even sure they know the difference.  I'm just attaching the picture for reference.

On my riveted together original grille the tabs you speak of are on the top.

I "POP" riveted(3/16" alum.) the Grille together(correctly per your advice).  Then used a Dremel tool and ground down the "broke off nail" flush, then mixed up a little JB Weld and smoothed off the head.  Then I sanded it with my Dremel tool.  Then painted it by hand with a small Hobby Camel hair brush with a Bright Silver.  Looks almost original.  Looks nicer than screws and nuts.  Thanks for your help and advice!
