Title: Black 67 with red nose stripe?
Post by: TonyHuntimerRaceHome on September 08, 2009, 07:15:51 PM
Is it possible to have a black '67 Camaro with red interior, red pinstripes, and red nose stripes?

Can this color combo be original?

Nice, but not a standard factory option. My limited understanding is, you could order any standard GM color available on the same assembly line, IF you knew how. I think that could be applied to stripes as well as body color. Post a photo of the trim tag, let the experts chime in.

So according to your experience, this is a possible color combo, just not common.  What would the trim tag show in regards to the color of a stripe?  Are you suggesting that this would only be a custom order paint which means it would have a dash in the paint code?

The "normal" combo would be light stripes on a dark car, ie. white on the red.  I know there is some info on CRG somewhere about this, but I can't quite find it yet.  I know there is special order paint and is --, but I don't know if you could change the stripe color.

-- is special order for a 69. For a 67 i think it is oo for special paint. I would not say it could have been ordered, I would say it might have been possible. Again, post a photo of the trim tag, and let the experts chime in.

I also seem to recall reading that pinstripes were not combined with any other stripes except on pace cars.

Apparently you could get the red stripe on black for '69...at least according to the correctly restored COPO.

According to the Assembly Manual (which isn't always right), the Z21 pinstripes were used in conjunction with the nose stripe (with a .375" gap between the two).  Here's an old picture of a Dana Camaro that came to my mind:

and the very well known Hot Rod Test Car -I have tons of pics of this car from 67 with the same stripes.

The pinstripes on that black '67 are split also.

Red stripes were standard on 69's with some colors. They were not standard for 67 or 68. Read more here: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#ExteriorColors
Don't forget to read through the footnotes.

That's strange.  I had not noticed that.  Thanks.
