Title: Question for JohnZ or anyone else who can help
Post by: Flowjoe on September 02, 2009, 05:21:38 PM
Having some work done to a set of "041" heads and the machinist has asked if I know anyone with a set of engineering drawings for them (it's a long story).  Can anyone help me out?

thanks in advance

Would the drawings in Chevrolet by the Numbers give the answers he needs?

Considered that but I didn't see one specifically for the "041" head (there's at least some for the "186" head - am unsure if there are variants in dimensions between the two).  I also don't know if I can scan them and enlarge while still maintaining readability.

041 and 186 heads are basically the same.  They will both take 2.02 valves.  I had a set for me 350/300 engine and had the shop put in 1.94/1.60 for better exhaust flow while keeping the low end torque of the 350. They also pocket ported them.  But since the 041s are as rare as 186s (maybe more rare, because a lot of them have been modified for circle tracks), I would not put 2.02s in them.  Save them for the Camaro SS owners looking for correct heads :)
