Title: Will a 4th gen rear end fit a 3rd gen vehicle
Post by: sdkar on August 16, 2009, 01:26:18 AM
Can a 4th gen rear be put in a 3rd gen (1991) Camaro?  Also, if the 3rd gen has drum brakes, what is needed to make the conversion to rear disc brakes?  Any pitfalls to look out for such as the emergency brake cables, etc.   Finally, is there a rear end to look for that is better than others in terms of strength and/or performance?  Any and all info is appreciated.

The 4th gen rearend is wider than the third gen.  Where are you located?

It bolts right in with no modifications but the overall width is greater. You can run fourth gen offset wheels on it to compensate. This is a common swap for people who want to run 4th gen wheels on their 3rd gens.
